Fees

The fee for one session of psychotherapy (50 minutes) is $350. This applies to individual, couples or family counseling. Half sessions (25 minutes) may be booked at the rate of $175.

Case management fees are billed by the 1/4 hour ($87.50 per 1/4 hour). Case management fees include consultations and communications (in person and via email, phone or teleconferencing) with all parties related to any contracted professional service. A minimum of 1/4 hour will be charged for any communication regarding services.

Appointments must be canceled a minimum of 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged for the time reserved.

Dr. Coughlin has completed specialized training to provide services within Collaborative Law. As a mental health professional, she typically serves as a facilitator for the collaborative team working to assist families transitioning from partnership to separate households. A retainer is required prior to beginning a collaborative process. The typical retainer ranges from $3,000–5,000 contingent on the complexity of the matter. The retainer is replenished when the balance reaches $1,000.

Services are billed at $350 per hour.

The initial retainer for Guardian ad Litem (GAL) investigations is typically $5,000. This retainer will increase to $10,000 if the matter is complex or travel is required. Services are billed at $350 per hour. Travel costs are reimbursed outside the retainer agreement. Daily rates are available when travel is required.

Legal evaluations typically involve testing, diagnostic interviews, and report preparation. Dr. Coughlin is established as an expert in family and criminal court, however, most of her work involves family matters. She frequently provides assessments of parents mediating timesharing; she will assess the individual for a mental health or substance use disorder that may disrupt parenting ability. Dr. Coughlin has created Parenting Plans to provide safety and stability for the families of both recovering and active substances abusers.

Fees are dependent on the length, location, and purpose of the evaluation. The type of evaluation needed is typically determined in consultation with your attorney. You will be informed as to the cost before the appointment is scheduled.

Fees for addiction services are contingent on the type of service needed. Individual treatment is billable at the usual rate of $300 per hour. Evaluations and recommendations for treatment are billable contingent on the breadth and depth required. Evaluations range from $2500 to $5000. Treatment recommendations may be brief, costing $500, or extensive which will be billed based on the required assessment and testimony.

Dr. Coughlin’s fee for expert testimony is $500 per hour. Fees for personal appearance in court or for depositions are billed door-to-door, with a minimum of two hours. Fees for telephonic appearance are billed based on the time reserved to assure the doctor’s availability. Preparation fees are billed at the same rate and contingent on the complexity of the matter.

Time reserved for expert testimony must be reserved and prepaid a minimum of one week in advance. 100% of the fees for scheduled testimony will be returned in the event of a cancellation 48 hours before the testimony is scheduled. 50% of the fees will be returned if the testimony is cancelled 48 -24 hours in advance. No fees will be returned if the testimony is not canceled, or is canceled late.

The price to have a QEEG completed is $500. This will need to be completed before neurofeedback training can begin. Each training session is $80.

For veterans, a QEEG is $250 and each training session is $40.
